夏越しの祓いとおついたちまいり Shrine ritual Summer of Kyoto

1年の折り返しにあたる6月30日、残る半年の無病息災を祈願する神事です。
神社によって作法は異なりますが、基本的には大きな茅の輪を三回廻って、穢れを祓い清めるというものです。

また、この日に和菓子「水無月」を食べる風習もあります。
小豆をのせた三角形の外郎(ういろう)です。その形は氷を表し、小豆は疫病の悪魔祓いの意が込められています。
